These selection of Photographs were taken in development for my final piece. The reasoning behind these Photographs are to create a confident vibe to contrast the less confident side that is on the surface usually and inside. This photoshoot was taken with an initial idea in mind, however this proved to be affected by the what was produced. The aim was to come across as a carefree person who doesn't care what anyone thinks about them, therefore the bikini was to show exposure of my body and then I would have to show my confidence within the photographs. Analysing the results of this photoshoot and talking with my teacher about them, we decided that if anything I looked more insecure rather than confident, and also I don't come across as happy. Therefore we discussed further into what the final outcome would look like and said I needed to be more happy and carefree. After thinking about this we chose to do another Photoshoot in the next lesson as we had a clearer idea of where this was going.

Due to not being fully satisfied and analysing the first photo shoot, we decided to do another one, this time with improvements. For example, the choice of clothing (bikini) so that it makes my appearance more vibrant and colourful to reflect the mood I was trying to express. This time the emotion that I wanted to show was confidence and happy, almost over self confident with my appearance which my final piece it will contrast what is going on beneath the surface. The photographs were taken slightly below the subjects eye level, as if I am on top of the world, looking down upon the camera as i pose and show off. After the photoshoot took place, me and my teacher sat down and went through to pick out the ones that were suitable. From the ones that were chosen, I edited them by changing the contrast to make the background black so that me as the subject will stand out more within the composition. Also I changed the brightness alongside this as some of the photographs were over exposed, so I put down the brightness to balance it out. I used a boost on the photographs to enhance my features and to make the photograph more vibrant due to the colour of the clothes and my facial features. The reason behind this is because these selection of photographs are to portray a happy confident person, and with this I wanted to almost over exaggerate this so that when they are placed in my final piece the contrast between the illustrative photographs and these will be very clear and dramatic.

| This photograph of the selection was chosen as it is showing more of a playful side to my appearance. The confidence is shown on my face which is what we were looking for. This is the only photograph in the selection that I am not fully smiling on. The positioning of my hands on my hips could be seen as posing, however my torso is more pushed forwards into the camera which exposes my body more. It almost looks as if I was strutting down a runway with confidence. |
| This is a different pose to most of the others. I am faced to the side in the middle of the composition. My right arm is placed on my head/hair, this creates nice shaping in the top half of the composition. My head is tilted back slightly however I am still looking at the camera which I prefer as looking away as it is like I am connecting with the audience. I have a natural happy smile which compliments me looking into the camera so it doesn't look as posed. My left arm is dropped down by my side and my body is arched a little outwards. I like the shaping of the arch that is made by my body as it represents the model stance which is also needed to represent the 'skinny is better' theme to my topic. The boost filter that i have used in on this photograph is a good example of the emphasis on the bikini top my red lips and my hair. |
| My face in this photograph is very natural and happy. My arms are outstretched in this one which automatically exposes more of my body. Instantly the pose I am in is representing the freedom I have with myself. I am mainly facing forwards towards the camera so that it seems like I am showing off. The boost effect I put onto the photograph highlights certain parts of myself, especially in the face and right hand side of the body. |
| This is a similar photograph to a previous one, however I prefer this one. My left arm is placed to the back of my head which is creating the nice shaping to my arm. This time, my head is fully facing the camera and my facial expression is more exaggerated than the previous one, yet it is still a natural overjoyed expression. The arch in my back is also present in this composition which I like. I see this photograph as more of a natural model professional photo shoot, as the poses I am doing reflect a model yet my face is less so model like and more general. The boost effect reflects well on my face and hair, and more so this photograph creates an excited vibe. |
| In this composition, my arms are outstretched, this time exposing my chest and stomach. My facial expression this time is more of a fun and a surprised emotion. I was in motion jumping which makes my hair more flowing and free, so that compliments the theme of feeling free and exposed. |
| This photograph is a little different to the others that we picked. We chose this photograph mainly to do with my expression. The use of my hand at the side of my mouth with the expression gives off a cheeky mood due to my open mouth and wide open eyes. Also the boost effect on this Photograph makes a big difference as it makes my hair look wild which compliments the personality that I am trying to put across. I think that my left arm could show a little insecurity as it is placed more behind my back. |
| This photograph shows more of my body in the composition. Both of my arms are placed behind my head which exposes more of my chest and stomach. It also shows more of my neck which is usually shaped by my hair, therefore it seems to be more bare around my chest area. My smile is naturally broad and wide. The only problem I have with this composition is the slight issue with the bikini top, as I rolled it up to expose more of my stomach, however it seems to have come down on one side, therefore it might become distracting. |
| My pose in this one is more relaxed as i'm more facing forwards rather than arching my back. My arms are fully above my head in a more upright way as if I am about to jump or have just landed from a jump. My expression in this photograph is more exaggerated than the others however still seems fully natural and not forced. The aim was to make it seem more natural so that it is not obvious of the problems that I was hiding inside. The composition consists of the majority of my body so it's showing more exposure. The boost effect on this one makes my hair look red suggesting a fiery feel. |
| This photograph similar to the previous one, however there are some differences. My arms are fully above my head and i seem to be more outstretched which exposes more of my shape and body. The expression is slightly different in that it is more surprised or as if I am screaming with excitement. |
| This has been my favourite out of the selection. The expression on my face is more carefree and says to me 'I don't care' and that is what the main idea I wanted to achieve with these photographs. My arms above my head coincidently create a symmetrical shape. My body is slightly leaning to the right. The fact that my hair has been flicked up and seen to be in motion also reflects the emotion portrayed in my face and overall this is exactly what we wanted to achieve. |
| In this one I am in a similar position to some of the others in this selection, however there is more of my body in this composition. Again, my arm is creating a nice shape around my head and my posture is stuck outwards to create an arch in my back. The difference in this photograph to the rest in that the angle plays really well as I am more looking down upon the camera. |
| My arms in this photograph are open and outstretched, exposing myself again and creates a joyful mood. My pose/stance is similar to the others, however with the similar angle, I am looking slightly down upon the camera. I think my expression is slightly menacing compared to the other broad smiles in the other selection, however I think considering I was in motion by flinging my arms up it does create a more carefree expression as in 'look at all the fun I am having.' |
